RE: Erroneous News Reporting - Autism
Dear Mr. Capus,
I was deeply troubled by the patently false
comments broadcast on NBC by one of your employees, Dr. Robert Bazell, regarding
the link between “autism” and vaccines being disproved. It was an insult to
the parents, grandparents, family and friends of more than 1.7 million
“autistic” children who loyally tuned into your network for your special
coverage on autism. Many of whom are discussing changing their viewing habits
if you allow correspondents to spout uncorroborated and erroneous information
which threatens the credibility of your network. The remarks should be
retracted immediately.
I have been licensed medical physician for 30 years who practiced
“mainstream” allopathic evidence-based medicine. The symptoms of
neurodevelopmental disorders are often mistaken and misdiagnosed as the
psychiatric disorder termed “autism” largely because physicians of my generation
were not taught to recognize the neurological and psychosomatic symptoms
resulting from chronic mercury exposure. My epiphany did not occur until it
happened to my son, Devon.
Devon developed severe neurodevelopmental symptoms (diagnosed as Asperger’s an autism spectrum disorder) at age 7˝ after a routine influenza immunization containing 25 micrograms of ethyl mercury (Thimerosal), a dose which the EPA would calculate that would be safe only for a 550 pound adult. He weighed only 50 pounds.
My
wife, a former medical office nurse with a forensic accounting background spent
the last fifteen months intensely investigating the Thimerosal/Autism link. We
are convinced there is strong evidence of a causal relationship after review of
the scientific literature, internal government documents and closed meeting
transcripts of both the CDC and IOM.
If there is no link between the use of a known neurotoxin and neurodevelopmental
disorders, why do we have nine file boxes of peer-reviewed scientific studies
dating back as far as 1950 showing the immunotoxic, neurotoxic, genotoxic,
nephrotoxic, cytotoxic and cardiotoxic effects of Thimerosal?
For an overview of this research,
please visit

And finally, if there is no evidence that mercury in vaccines has led to this
epidemic why has my son started to recover only after removal of mercury along
with using biomedical interventions that do not involve purchasing
pharmaceuticals?
I encourage your network to honestly portray all aspects of autism,
not just those that benefit your advertisers.
Sincerely,

Alan D. Clark, M.D.
