A native of Atlanta, Georgia, Lujene attended Tift College (part of the
Mercer University System) where she majored in business administration and
minored in accounting. She also completed training as a CMA. She launched
her career in medicine as an office manager and physician's office nurse in
family practice and OB-GYN. She served as Vice President of Southeast
Medical Resources in the 80's and moved to Southwest Missouri with her
husband in 1993. She became active in local politics and served two terms
on her local city council. She earned a reputation of holding government
accountable for its fiscal policies. She is active in
The American Business Women's Association
- Peace Star Chapter and served as President in 2003-2004. She was named
Woman of the Year in 2002. As a mother of a child born in the mid-90s and
damaged by mercury in vaccines, Lujene has become a vanguard for the
establishment of safe vaccines, making numerous trips to state and national
legislative bodies to help educate policymakers on the danger of mercury as
a vaccine preservative.
